European Aviation Institute

The European Aviation Institute has successfully delivered a second edition of the EASA Part-IS Aviation Cybersecurity training, organized in the days immediately preceding the entry into force of the European EASA Part-IS regulation for aviation organizations on 22 February. The session was conducted in collaboration with JETAV Flight Academy.

The course was fully booked, reflecting the high demand from aviation professionals eager to prepare for the new regulatory requirements. Participants included both industry representatives and members of the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority (AACR), bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders committed to ensuring compliance with the upcoming framework.

As in the previous edition, the training focused on both regulatory understanding and practical application, encouraging participants to move beyond theory and actively engage with Part-IS requirements in realistic operational scenarios.

A key highlight of the training was a simulated authorization audit, developed around a structured scenario in which participants were divided into auditors and auditees, allowing them to experience both perspectives of the oversight and authorization process under the new regulatory framework.

Throughout the training, participants strengthened their competencies through a balanced mix of theoretical input and practical activities, covering in particular:

  • a clear understanding of the EASA Part-IS regulatory framework and its implications for aviation organizations;
  • familiarization with IT&C fundamentals and basic networking concepts relevant to information security;
  • identification of cyber threats and vulnerabilities specific to the aviation environment;
  • implementation of protective measures and effective security incident management;
  • development of practical skills through audit simulations and hands-on evaluations based on realistic scenarios.

The strong interest and full participation confirmed the continued demand for practice-oriented training in aviation cybersecurity. We would like to thank all participants for their engagement throughout the course and for the valuable feedback shared at the end of the session — it plays an important role in shaping and continuously improving our training programmes.

Going forward, the European Aviation Institute will be organizing dedicated in-company training sessions, tailored to the specific needs and operational context of individual aviation organizations.
